Be baptized and in communion with the Church
Be in a state of grace
Fast from food and drink for at least one hour before receiving, except water and medicine
Dress and behave reverently
Approach the Communion line with reverence
Make a bow or other prescribed gesture before receiving
Respond “Amen” when the minister says “The Body of Christ” or “The Blood of Christ”
Receive on the tongue or in the hand, according to local practice
Consume the Host immediately
Consume the Precious Blood immediately if offered
Return to your place in silence and prayer
Refrain from receiving if conscious of grave sin until after Confession
Follow the instructions of the priest or minister and local liturgical norms
