How To Record Bass With Two Outputs?

Use the bass’s active/passive outputs if available

Connect one output to a clean DI

Connect the second output to an amp or separate preamp

Record both signals on separate tracks

Check phase alignment between the two tracks

Flip polarity on one track if needed

Set input gain so neither track clips

Blend the DI for clarity and the amp for tone

Use a splitter or dual-output box if the bass has only one output

Keep cable runs short and use balanced connections when possible

Monitor both signals while tracking

Label tracks clearly for later mixing
