Check the Recycle Bin and restore the file if it was deleted
Open Excel and go to File > Open > Recent to look for the file
Use File > Info > Manage Workbook > Recover Unsaved Workbooks
Search your computer for temporary or autosaved Excel files
Check the AutoRecover folder in Excel options
Use File > Open and select the file, then click the arrow next to Open and choose Open and Repair
Restore the file from OneDrive, SharePoint, or another cloud backup if it was synced
Check File History or Windows Backup if enabled
Use a previous version by right-clicking the file or folder and selecting Restore previous versions
Look in the Temp folder for recovery copies
Search for files with .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, or .tmp extensions
Enable AutoRecover and AutoSave for future protection
Save recovered files immediately under a new name
