Empty the drawer completely
Open the drawer fully
Look for release levers, tabs, or clips on both sides
Press or lift the release mechanism while pulling the drawer outward
If there are no releases, tilt the front of the drawer up slightly and lift it off the tracks
For metal file cabinets, remove any stop screws or locking tabs first
Support the drawer with both hands as you pull it out
Slide the drawer straight out until it clears the rails
Set the drawer aside carefully
Repeat for each drawer as needed
