Go to the View tab
Uncheck the Gridlines box in the Show group
Go to the Page Layout tab
In Sheet Options, under Gridlines, uncheck View
To remove gridlines from printing, uncheck Print under Sheet Options > Gridlines
On Mac, go to the Layout or View tab and clear the Gridlines option
For a specific worksheet, repeat the steps on that sheet only
