Use a fine-tooth nit comb on wet hair
Apply conditioner to help the comb glide through the hair
Section the hair into small parts
Comb from the scalp to the ends of the hair
Wipe the comb on a tissue or paper towel after each pass
Repeat combing every 2 to 3 days for at least 2 weeks
Wash pillowcases, hats, bedding, and hair accessories in hot water
Vacuum upholstered furniture and car seats
Soak combs and brushes in hot water for 10 minutes
Check all household members for lice and nits
Use an over-the-counter lice treatment if needed
Follow the product instructions exactly
Avoid using lice treatments more often than directed
Remove nits by hand if needed after combing
Continue checking the scalp for new nits after treatment
