Place the cursor before the section break
Press Delete
If that does not work, place the cursor after the section break
Press Backspace
Turn on Show/Hide formatting marks
Find the section break line
Select the section break
Press Delete
If needed, switch to Draft view
Remove the section break there
Save the document
