How to Repair Holes in Vinyl Siding?

Clean the damaged area with soap and water

Let the siding dry completely

Cut away any loose or cracked vinyl around the hole

Trim the hole into a neat shape if needed

For small holes, apply color-matched exterior caulk from the back side if accessible

Smooth the caulk flush with the siding surface

For larger holes, cut a matching vinyl patch from a spare siding piece

Make the patch slightly larger than the hole

Slide the patch behind the damaged section if possible

Secure the patch with exterior-grade adhesive or vinyl-safe caulk

Seal the edges with a thin bead of color-matched caulk

For damaged panels, remove the affected siding section with a zip tool

Unlock the panel above and below the damaged piece

Replace it with a matching vinyl siding panel

Re-lock the panels and nail the replacement in place with proper spacing

Keep nails slightly loose to allow expansion and contraction

Wipe away excess caulk before it cures

Paint only if the siding and repair materials are paintable

Inspect the repair after curing for gaps or movement
