Turn off the power to the smoke alarm at the circuit breaker if it is hardwired
Remove the alarm from its mounting bracket
Disconnect the power connector from the back of the alarm if hardwired
Remove the battery from the alarm
Press and hold the test/reset button for 15 to 20 seconds
Reinstall the battery or insert a new battery
Reconnect the power connector if hardwired
Reattach the alarm to the mounting bracket
Restore power at the circuit breaker
Press the test/reset button to confirm the alarm is working
Replace the alarm if it still will not reset or keep beeping
