Restart the MacBook
At the login screen, enter the wrong password three times
Click Reset it using your Apple ID if prompted
Sign in with your Apple ID and follow the on-screen steps
If FileVault is enabled, use your recovery key when prompted
If you can access another admin account, log in to that account
Open System Settings or System Preferences
Go to Users & Groups
Select the locked user account
Click Reset Password
Enter a new password and save the changes
If you cannot reset it from the Mac, restart into macOS Recovery
On Apple silicon Macs, press and hold the power button until startup options appear
On Intel Macs, restart and hold Command + R
In Recovery, open Utilities and select Terminal if needed
Type resetpassword and press Return
Follow the Reset Password assistant
