Open Microsoft Word
Go to File
Click Open
Select Recent or Browse
Check the Document Recovery pane if it appears
Open the recovered file
Click File
Click Info
Select Manage Document
Choose Recover Unsaved Documents
Open the unsaved file
Save the document immediately
Check the Recycle Bin for deleted files
Restore the file if found
Search for temporary Word files
Look for files with .asd, .tmp, or .wbk extensions
Open the file in Word
Use File
Select Open
Choose the damaged document
Click the arrow next to Open
Select Open and Repair
Restore from OneDrive or SharePoint version history
Right-click the file
Select Version History
Restore an earlier version
Use File History or backup software if available
Restore the document from a previous backup
