How To Restring A Classical Guitar?

Loosen each old string gradually until slack

Unwind the string from the tuning post

Untie the string from the bridge

Remove all old strings

Clean the fretboard, bridge, and soundboard

Insert the new string through the bridge tie block

Leave enough slack for wrapping at the tuning post

Tie the string securely at the bridge

Thread the other end through the tuning post hole

Pull the string snug by hand

Wrap the string around the post neatly

Keep the wraps moving downward on the post

Tune the string slowly to pitch

Repeat for all six strings

Stretch each string gently after tuning

Retune until the strings stay in pitch

Trim excess string ends if desired
