Turn on the HP Envy 6458C and make sure it is connected to your computer or Wi-Fi network
Place the document or photo face down on the scanner glass
Align it with the corner guide on the scanner bed
Close the scanner lid
Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device
Select your printer
Tap or click Scan
Choose the scan type, size, and settings if needed
Start the scan
Review the scanned file
Save, share, or print the scanned document
If using Windows, you can also open the Windows Scan app and select the HP Envy 6458C
If using macOS, open Image Capture or Preview and select the printer scanner
If scanning multiple pages, use the automatic document feeder only if your model setup supports it
Make sure the printer has enough ink and paper if you plan to print the scan afterward
