How To Sharpen Ski Edges?

Secure the ski in a vise with the base facing up and the edge accessible

Clean the edges with a cloth to remove dirt, wax, and rust

Use a gummy stone or rust eraser to remove oxidation and burrs

Set the desired side-edge angle with an edge guide

File the side edge from tip to tail in smooth, even strokes

Keep the file flat in the guide and maintain consistent pressure

Check for burrs and repeat until the edge feels sharp

Flip the ski and set the base-edge angle if needed

Use a fine file or diamond stone to refine the edge

Finish with a fine diamond stone for a smoother edge

Remove any remaining burrs with a gummy stone

Wipe the edges clean and inspect for uniform sharpness

Repeat on the other ski edge

Test carefully on snow and resharpen as needed
