Download and install Snapchat from the App Store or Google Play
Open the app and tap Sign Up
Enter your name, birthday, username, password, and phone number or email
Verify your account with the code sent to you
Allow access to camera, contacts, and notifications if you want full features
Tap the camera screen to take a photo
Press and hold the capture button to record a video
Tap the timer, text, sticker, drawing, or filter tools to edit your Snap
Tap Send To to choose friends or add to Your Story
Swipe right to open Chat and message friends
Swipe left to view Stories and Discover content
Swipe down to open your profile and settings
Tap the profile icon to edit your Bitmoji, username, and privacy settings
Add friends by username, contacts, Snapcode, or Quick Add
Use the search bar to find friends, stories, or lenses
Tap and hold a Snap in chat to save it if allowed
Tap Memories to view saved Snaps and Stories
Use the camera lens carousel to try different filters and effects
Tap the map icon to use Snap Map if enabled
Adjust privacy settings to control who can contact you, view your story, and see your location
Log out from settings when you are done
