Identify the number under the cube root
Find a number that multiplied by itself three times equals that number
If the number is a perfect cube, write its cube root directly
If the number is not a perfect cube, estimate between nearby perfect cubes
Use prime factorization to simplify exact cube roots when possible
Group prime factors into sets of three
Move each group of three outside the cube root as one factor
Leave any ungrouped factors inside the cube root
For decimal or fractional values, rewrite them as fractions if needed
Check your answer by cubing it
Use a calculator if an exact value is not required
