How To Start A Fire In A Fireplace?

Open the damper fully

Make sure the fireplace and chimney are clean and clear

Place a few sheets of crumpled newspaper or fire starter in the firebox

Add dry kindling in a loose teepee or log cabin shape

Place a few small, dry firewood pieces on top

Leave space for air to flow

Light the newspaper or fire starter in several places

Add larger logs gradually once the fire is established
