How To Stop Bleeding After Tooth Extraction?

Bite firmly on a clean gauze pad placed over the extraction site for 30 to 60 minutes

Replace the gauze and repeat if bleeding continues

Keep your head elevated

Rest and avoid strenuous activity

Do not spit

Do not rinse your mouth vigorously

Do not use a straw

Do not smoke

Avoid hot drinks and hot foods

Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek for 10 to 20 minutes at a time

If bleeding persists, bite on a damp black tea bag for 30 minutes

Take only medications approved by your dentist or doctor

Avoid touching the area with your tongue or fingers
