Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
Find Windows Update
Double-click Windows Update
Set Startup type to Disabled
Click Stop
Click Apply
Click OK
Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter
Go to Computer Configuration
Go to Administrative Templates
Go to Windows Components
Go to Windows Update
Open Configure Automatic Updates
Set it to Disabled
Click Apply
Click OK
Press Win + I
Go to Update & Security
Go to Windows Update
Click Pause updates for 7 days
Repeat pause if available
Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindows
Create a new key named WindowsUpdate if needed
Create a new key named AU inside WindowsUpdate if needed
Create a new DWORD value named NoAutoUpdate
Set NoAutoUpdate to 1
Restart the computer
Set your network connection to Metered
Go to Settings
Go to Network & Internet
Select your connection
Turn on Set as metered connection
Disable Windows Update service after major updates if it turns back on
Use Microsoft’s Show or Hide Updates troubleshooter to block specific updates
