Remove the battery cover
Remove the batteries
Remove the battery compartment screws if present
Use a plastic pry tool to separate the front and back shell
Work around the edges to release the clips
Lift off the back shell
Remove any internal screws
Disconnect any ribbon cables carefully
Remove the circuit board
Remove the buttons and rubber membranes
Remove the thumbsticks if needed
Keep track of all screws and parts in order
