Spray penetrating oil on the screw and wait
Tap the screw head lightly to help loosen rust
Use the correct screwdriver or bit for a tight fit
Apply firm downward pressure while turning slowly
Try tightening slightly first, then loosen
Use a manual impact driver
Heat the surrounding metal carefully, then try again
Clean rust from the screw head with a wire brush or pick
Cut a new slot in the head with a rotary tool if needed
Use locking pliers if the screw head is exposed
Drill a small pilot hole and use a screw extractor
Drill out the screw head if extraction fails
