Talk to your prescriber before changing your dose
Do not stop Zoloft suddenly unless your prescriber tells you to
Ask for a taper plan based on your current dose, how long you have taken it, and your symptoms
Reduce the dose gradually, usually in small steps over weeks or longer
Follow the exact schedule your prescriber gives you
Use the prescribed tablet strengths or liquid form if needed for smaller dose changes
Keep a daily record of mood, sleep, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, and other symptoms
Contact your prescriber if withdrawal symptoms become severe or your depression or anxiety returns
If symptoms are difficult, ask about slowing the taper or returning to the previous dose temporarily
Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs during the taper
Keep regular follow-up appointments while tapering
Seek urgent help if you have suicidal thoughts, severe agitation, or worsening mental health symptoms
