Have your dog lie down
Hold a treat near your dog’s nose
Move the treat toward your dog’s shoulder to encourage a side roll
Let your dog follow the treat onto its side
Continue moving the treat in a circular motion so your dog rolls onto its back and over to the other side
Reward your dog immediately after the roll
Repeat the motion in short training sessions
Use a verbal cue like “roll over” once your dog starts following the motion
Practice until your dog responds to the cue without needing the full hand motion
Keep sessions positive, brief, and consistent
