Spread slivered almonds in a single layer in a dry skillet
Place the skillet over medium-low heat
Stir or shake the skillet frequently
Toast until lightly golden and fragrant
Remove immediately from the skillet to stop cooking
Let cool before using
Or spread on a baking sheet and toast in a 325°F oven for 5 to 8 minutes, stirring once or twice
Watch closely to prevent burning
