Turn on both iPhones and place them close together
Make sure both iPhones are connected to Wi-Fi and have enough battery
Update both iPhones to the latest iOS version if possible
On the new iPhone, start the setup process
Choose Quick Start when it appears on the old iPhone
Use the old iPhone to scan the animation on the new iPhone
Enter the old iPhone passcode on the new iPhone
Set up Face ID or Touch ID on the new iPhone
Choose Transfer from iPhone to move data directly
Keep both iPhones near each other until the transfer finishes
If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID
Wait for apps, photos, messages, and settings to finish transferring
If using iCloud, select Restore from iCloud Backup during setup
Sign in to iCloud and choose the most recent backup
If using a computer, back up the old iPhone with Finder or iTunes
Connect the new iPhone to the computer and restore the backup
Check that contacts, photos, messages, apps, and settings transferred correctly
Re-download any apps or content that did not transfer automatically
