How to Transplant Orchids?

Choose the right time to transplant after flowering or when new roots begin to grow

Gather fresh orchid mix, a clean pot with drainage, sterilized cutting tools, and gloves

Remove the orchid from its old pot gently

Shake off and remove old potting medium from the roots

Inspect the roots and cut away dead, mushy, or black roots with sterilized tools

Trim any dead or damaged leaves or flower spikes if needed

Rinse the roots lightly if necessary

Place a small amount of fresh orchid mix in the new pot

Position the orchid so the base sits at the same level as before

Spread the roots evenly in the pot

Fill around the roots with fresh orchid mix without packing it tightly

Tap the pot lightly to settle the medium

Keep the orchid stable in the pot

Do not water immediately if roots were cut; wait a few days if needed

Place the orchid in bright indirect light

Resume normal watering after the plant adjusts

Avoid fertilizing for a few weeks after transplanting
