Give all prescribed antibiotics exactly as directed
Do not use human antibiotics or leftover medications
Encourage frequent water intake
Provide fresh water in multiple places
Feed wet food if your vet approves
Let your dog urinate often and do not hold it in
Keep the bladder area clean and dry
Monitor for blood in the urine, straining, accidents, or frequent urination
Watch for fever, vomiting, lethargy, or loss of appetite
Seek urgent veterinary care if your dog cannot urinate, seems very painful, or worsens
Do not give over-the-counter pain medicines unless prescribed by a vet
Follow up with your veterinarian if symptoms do not improve quickly
Prevent future infections with regular bathroom breaks and good hydration
