Avoid picking, biting, or irritating the sore
Rest and reduce stress
Wash hands often and avoid sharing utensils, cups, or lip products
See a dentist or doctor if the sore is severe, lasts more than 2 weeks, keeps coming back, or you have fever, trouble swallowing, or a weakened immune system
