Call emergency services immediately
Move the person to a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned place
Remove excess clothing
Cool the person rapidly with cold water, ice packs, or wet cloths
Fan the person while cooling
Place ice packs on the neck, armpits, and groin
If the person is conscious, give small sips of cool water
Do not give fluids if the person is confused, unconscious, or vomiting
Monitor breathing and pulse
Begin CPR if the person is unresponsive and not breathing normally
Stay with the person until emergency help arrives
