Open Settings
Tap Messages
Turn off iMessage
Tap Send & Receive
Uncheck all phone numbers and email addresses
Go back to Settings
Tap FaceTime
Turn off FaceTime if needed
To stop notifications only, go to Settings
Tap Notifications
Tap Messages
Turn off Allow Notifications
