Lay the necklace flat on a smooth surface
Add a little baby powder, cornstarch, or a drop of oil if needed
Locate the tightest part of the knot
Use two fine pins, needles, or sewing pins to gently loosen the knot
Work from the outside edges of the knot toward the center
Pull very slowly and only a little at a time
Keep the chain straight behind the knot to avoid tightening it
If the clasp is available, open it to give more slack
Use a magnifying glass if the knot is very small
Stop if the chain starts to twist more tightly
Once loosened, gently separate the links with your fingers
Wipe off any powder or oil after the knot is removed
Store the necklace untangled in a separate pouch or on a hook
