Connect the Kindle Fire to Wi-Fi
Charge the device to at least 50%
Swipe down from the top of the screen
Tap Settings
Tap Device Options
Tap System Updates
Tap Check Now
If an update is available, tap Download and Install
Wait for the update to finish
Restart the device if prompted
To update manually, download the correct Fire OS update file from Amazon on a computer
Connect the Kindle Fire to the computer with a USB cable
Copy the update file to the device’s internal storage
Safely eject the device
On the Kindle Fire, go to Settings
Tap Device Options
Tap System Updates
Tap Update Your Kindle
Wait for the installation to complete
