Open the Minecraft Launcher
Sign in to your Microsoft account if prompted
Select Minecraft: Java Edition or Minecraft for Windows
Open the Installations tab if using Java Edition
Turn on Latest Release or select the newest version
Click Play to download and install the update
Open the Microsoft Store if using Minecraft for Windows
Go to Library
Click Get updates
Wait for Minecraft to finish updating
Restart the launcher or game if needed
