Wash your hands
Remove the suppository from its wrapper
If needed, moisten it with a little water or use a water-based lubricant
Lie on your side with one knee bent, or stand with one foot raised
Gently insert the suppository into the rectum, pointed end first, about 1 inch in adults or as directed
Stay still for a few minutes to help it remain in place
Wash your hands again
Try to avoid passing stool for at least 15 to 30 minutes, or as directed
