How To Use Diatomaceous Earth For Fleas?

Use food-grade diatomaceous earth only

Vacuum carpets, rugs, furniture, and pet bedding first

Wash pet bedding, blankets, and washable fabrics in hot water

Dry all washed items on high heat if safe

Wear a mask to avoid inhaling the dust

Keep pets and people out of the area while applying

Lightly dust a thin layer on carpets, rugs, baseboards, cracks, and pet resting areas

Gently work the powder into carpet fibers with a broom or brush

Apply a very light dusting to pet bedding only if safe for the material

Avoid applying directly to pets unless a veterinarian says it is safe

Avoid eyes, nose, mouth, and open wounds

Leave the powder in place for 24 to 48 hours

Vacuum thoroughly after the waiting period

Repeat application as needed, especially after cleaning

Reapply after rain, moisture, or heavy cleaning if used outdoors

Keep the area dry for best results

Combine with flea control for pets and home treatment

Monitor for fleas and continue treatment until the infestation is gone
