Turn off power at the breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized
Identify the incoming hot, neutral, and ground conductors
Run power from the source to the switch box first
Connect the incoming hot to the switch line terminal
Connect a switched hot from the switch output to the light fixture hot
Connect the neutral from the source directly to the light fixture neutral
Connect all grounds together and to the switch, receptacle, and light fixture grounds
If adding a receptacle, connect its hot to constant power unless it is intended to be switched
Connect the receptacle neutral to the neutral bundle
Connect the receptacle ground to the ground bundle
If the receptacle is split-switched, remove the tab on the hot side only
Use a pigtail for shared hot, neutral, and ground connections where needed
Cap all unused conductors with approved wire connectors
Install devices in approved electrical boxes with proper cable clamps
Restore power and test the switch, receptacle, and light operation
