Vacuum the carpet thoroughly before cleaning
Fill the clean water tank with hot tap water
Add the recommended Bissell cleaning solution
Secure the tank back onto the machine
Plug in the carpet cleaner
Turn the power on
Select the desired cleaning mode if available
Squeeze the trigger to release solution while pushing the machine forward slowly
Release the trigger and pull the machine back over the same area
Overlap each pass slightly as you move across the carpet
Repeat on heavily soiled areas as needed
Empty the dirty water tank when it fills
Refill the clean water tank as needed
Turn the machine off and unplug it when finished
Rinse and clean the tanks and removable parts
Let all parts dry completely before storing
