Result is the room area in square feet (sq ft)
If the room is not a rectangle, split it into rectangles
Measure each section’s length and width in feet
Calculate each section’s area (length × width)
Add all section areas together for total square feet
If there are cutouts (closets, alcoves), measure each cutout area
Subtract cutout areas from the total area
If measurements are in inches, convert to feet by dividing by 12
