Write the return address in the top-left corner (smaller than the recipient address).

Write the recipient address in the center of the envelope (larger than the return address).
Format the recipient address as: Name / Street Address / Apt or Unit (optional) / City, State ZIP.
Use standard abbreviations for the state (e.g., CA, NY, TX).
Put the ZIP code on the last line with the city and state line (e.g., City, ST 12345 or City, ST 12345-6789).
If mailing internationally, write the destination country on the last line in all caps.
For apartment/unit numbers, write them on the same line as the street address (e.g., 123 MAIN ST APT 4B).
Keep lines straight and leave consistent spacing between lines.
Use clear, legible handwriting or print in dark ink.
Do not include punctuation in ZIP+4 or between city and state beyond the comma (e.g., “Austin, TX 78701”).
Place stamps in the top-right corner.
If using “Attn:” or “c/o,” include it in the recipient address block (e.g., ATTN: NAME or C/O NAME).
Ensure the address block fits within the delivery area and is not covered by labels.
