Turn off the water supply
Open the shower valve to release any remaining water
Remove the old showerhead or trim pieces
Unscrew the shower arm if replacing it
Clean the threads and mounting surfaces
Apply plumber’s tape to threaded connections
Install the new shower arm, showerhead, or trim kit
Tighten all fittings securely
Reinstall any escutcheon plates or handles
Turn the water supply back on
Check for leaks
Test the fixture for proper flow and operation
