How To Take Cornell Notes?

Divide your page into three sections: cue column, notes area, and summary area

Write the topic, date, and class at the top

Take notes in the large notes area during class or while reading

Use short phrases, keywords, and abbreviations

Record main ideas, facts, examples, and important details

Leave space between ideas for later additions

After class, write questions, keywords, or cues in the left column

Turn main points into questions in the cue column

Write a brief summary of the page at the bottom

Review your notes soon after class

Cover the notes area and answer the cue questions from memory

Use the summary and cue column to study and self-test

Revise and add missing information as needed
