Unplug the water cooler
Remove the water bottle
Drain all remaining water from the reservoir and spigots
Wash your hands and put on clean gloves
Mix a disinfecting solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions or use a food-safe sanitizer
Remove and wash removable parts with warm soapy water
Wipe the exterior with a clean cloth and disinfecting solution
Apply the disinfecting solution to the reservoir, spigots, drip tray, and other internal surfaces
Let the solution sit for the required contact time
Scrub any visible buildup with a soft brush or sponge
Drain the disinfecting solution completely
Rinse all parts and internal surfaces thoroughly with clean water
Reassemble the cooler
Install a fresh water bottle
Flush a small amount of water through the spigots before use
Plug the cooler back in
Disinfect the water cooler regularly according to usage and manufacturer guidelines
