Remove existing grass, weeds, rocks, and debris
Test and prepare the soil
Grade the area for proper drainage
Loosen the top 4 to 6 inches of soil

Rake the soil smooth and level
Water the soil lightly before laying sod
Start laying sod along a straight edge
Stagger the seams like bricks
Fit pieces tightly together without overlapping
Cut sod pieces with a sharp knife as needed
Avoid leaving gaps between pieces
Roll the sod to ensure good soil contact
Water the sod thoroughly immediately after installation
Keep the sod consistently moist for the first 2 weeks
Avoid heavy foot traffic until roots establish
Mow only after the sod is rooted and tall enough
Fertilize according to grass type and soil test results
