4 cups milk or water
1/2 cup masa harina or corn flour
1/2 cup piloncillo, brown sugar, or sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup cold milk or water
Whisk masa harina with the cold milk or water until smooth
Heat the remaining milk or water with the cinnamon stick, sugar, and salt in a pot
Bring to a gentle simmer
Remove the cinnamon stick
Slowly whisk in the masa mixture
Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened
Stir in the vanilla extract
Serve hot
