Turn on both iPhones and place them near each other
Make sure both devices are connected to Wi-Fi and have enough battery
Update both iPhones to the latest iOS version if possible
On the new iPhone, begin the setup process
Use Quick Start when the old iPhone prompt appears
Scan the animation on the new iPhone with the old iPhone
Enter the old iPhone passcode on the new iPhone
Set up Face ID or Touch ID on the new iPhone
Choose Transfer from iPhone when prompted
Keep both iPhones close together until the transfer finishes
If needed, connect both iPhones to power during transfer
Sign in to your Apple ID on the new iPhone
Turn on iCloud syncing for photos, contacts, notes, messages, and other data
Restore apps and data from iCloud if prompted
Transfer data using an iCloud backup if Quick Start is not available
On the old iPhone, go to Settings, tap your name, tap iCloud, tap iCloud Backup, then tap Back Up Now
On the new iPhone, choose Restore from iCloud Backup during setup
Sign in with your Apple ID and select the latest backup
Transfer data using a computer backup if preferred
Connect the old iPhone to a Mac or PC and create an encrypted backup
Connect the new iPhone to the computer and restore the backup
Check that photos, messages, contacts, apps, and settings are transferred
Keep the old iPhone until you confirm everything is on the new iPhone
Erase the old iPhone only after the transfer is complete and verified
