How to Treat Infected Nose Ring?

Wash your hands before touching the piercing

Clean the area with sterile saline solution 2 times a day

Use a warm saline compress for 5 to 10 minutes

Gently remove any crust with clean gauze after soaking

Avoid twisting, turning, or removing the nose ring

Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or ointments unless advised by a clinician

Avoid makeup, lotions, and harsh skincare products near the piercing

Keep hair, masks, and dirty hands away from the area

Use a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping on the pierced side

Seek medical care if there is severe pain, spreading redness, fever, thick yellow or green discharge, or swelling that worsens

Get urgent care if the jewelry is embedded, breathing is affected, or the nose becomes very swollen
