Wash your hands before touching the piercing
Clean the area with sterile saline solution 2 times a day
Use a warm saline compress for 5 to 10 minutes
Gently remove any crust with clean gauze after soaking
Avoid twisting, turning, or removing the nose ring
Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or ointments unless advised by a clinician
Avoid makeup, lotions, and harsh skincare products near the piercing
Keep hair, masks, and dirty hands away from the area
Use a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping on the pierced side
Seek medical care if there is severe pain, spreading redness, fever, thick yellow or green discharge, or swelling that worsens
Get urgent care if the jewelry is embedded, breathing is affected, or the nose becomes very swollen
