Select the solute and determine its equivalent weight
Decide the required normality and final volume of the solution
Calculate the mass of solute needed using the formula: mass = Normality × Equivalent weight × Volume in liters
Weigh the calculated mass accurately
Transfer the solute into a clean volumetric flask or suitable container
Add a small amount of distilled water and dissolve the solute completely
Rinse the weighing vessel and add the washings to the flask
Add distilled water up to near the calibration mark
Make up the volume exactly to the mark with distilled water
Stopper the flask and mix thoroughly
Label the solution with name, normality, date, and any safety details
Standardize the solution if required
Store the solution in a properly labeled container
