How to Stop Auto Updates in Windows 10?

Open Services: press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter

Find Windows Update

Right-click Windows Update and select Properties

Set Startup type to Disabled

Click Stop

Click Apply

Click OK

Open Services again

Find Update Orchestrator Service

Right-click it and select Properties

Set Startup type to Disabled if available

Click Stop if available

Click Apply

Click OK

Open Group Policy Editor: press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, press Enter

Go to Computer Configuration

Go to Administrative Templates

Go to Windows Components

Go to Windows Update

Open Configure Automatic Updates

Select Disabled

Click Apply

Click OK

Open Settings

Go to Update & Security

Go to Windows Update

Click Advanced options

Turn off automatic restart options if available

Set your network connection to Metered

Open Settings

Go to Network & Internet

Select your connection

Turn on Set as metered connection

Create or open WindowsUpdate

Create or open AU

Create DWORD NoAutoUpdate

Set value to 1

Restart the computer

Use a third-party update blocker only if necessary

Recheck Windows Update settings after major Windows updates
