How to Make Homemade Rolls?

Warm 1 cup milk until just lukewarm

Add 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar

Let sit 5 to 10 minutes until foamy

In a large bowl, combine 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons sugar

Add 1 egg, 3 tablespoons melted butter, and the yeast mixture

Mix until a soft dough forms

Knead on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic

Place dough in a greased bowl

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until doubled

Punch down the dough

Divide into 12 equal pieces

Shape each piece into a roll

Place rolls in a greased baking pan

Cover and let rise for 30 to 45 minutes until puffy

Preheat oven to 375°F

Brush tops with melted butter or beaten egg

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown

Remove from oven and brush with more butter if desired

Cool slightly before serving
