Choose a theme for the puzzle
Select a list of words related to the theme
Decide the grid size based on the word list
Write the words into the grid in different directions
Place words horizontally, vertically, and diagonally
Allow words to go forward and backward if desired
Fill the remaining empty spaces with random letters
Check that all words are spelled correctly and are hidden properly
Make sure words do not overlap in a way that breaks readability
Create a separate word list for players to find
Add a title to the puzzle
Review the puzzle for mistakes
Print or share the completed word search puzzle
